Lotsa** Love in Boston

Have I mentioned that I love Boston?

Specifically, here are the things that I love all* the time:

1) The MiT Coop: (Pronounced coop as in for chickens) To be extremely specific, I love their nerdy mugs with molecular formulas and other equations and their highlighted SCIENCE books table when you walk in. I love the little shelves in the back that hold all the nerdy science-y kids games and toys.

2) Public transportation - Subway: The T (what we call the subway) is great. The other day, I took the T all the way to the beach. Holla! Who does that? Also, I can visit my sister on most weekends for very little cost and time by riding commuter rail. I don't have a bike because I don't need one. I have a 8 min walk to the grocery store, shopping, restaurants. I can take 2 different routes to work in the morning and get there in roughly the same amount of commuter time. Remember when I read so many books? Thanks MBTA.

3) City Living: I didn't know that I would appreciate it, but there's something lovable about people living so close together. I've never seen parks so full of kids the way they are here on saturdays and after school. The houses so close together are historic looking and hold as much character as the people who live on them and sit on their front steps to talk to their neighbors. It's seemingly less isolated, because you can't be. So you give in and live life with all who surround you.

4) Bostonians: They are actually quite friendly. Not in a smile at you way, but in a if you're even looking lost, they'll ask you where you wanted to go. Or if you are sitting on the bus by yourself, they'll sit down and start chatting about their long day. Or in one case, if you are leaning up against a bus stop, they'll quote the Marx brothers and talk about their philosophy of humor with you until the bus comes. I  have run ins with the best Bostonians. I seem to already be one too, as I get asked for directions on a regular basis.

5) Pronunciation: It's true. The accent is real. There's a food truck that calls itself LobstaLove. The town of Gloucester is pronounced Glosta. Peabody, is Pee-ba-dee. Quincy, is Quinzee. Anywhere vowels can be shortened into less syllables, happens. Rule of thumb - say it quick and say it fast. You'll probably be correct.

*There are so many things that I constantly add to this list. However, the above list are constants.

**I wanted to entitle this Lobsta Love, but couldn't since I don't love lobsta. I don't even like it. But it's a clever name for a famous food truck frequenting these parts.
