A poem in tribute to sisters and relationships...

I recently watched "In Her Shoes" with my roommates. The last time I watched it I got a little teary simply because there is something so real between the two sisters who at times can't stand each other and at the other times are best friends. I guess it's one of those movies that helped me feel less guilt for having a less than perfect relationship with either of my sisters at times. At the end of the film, the younger sister maggie, dedicates a poem to her older sister rose's wedding. In light of Brady plugging Poetry month, and as a further dedication to both my older and younger sisters, who I didn't get a chance to talk to on Easter, I've included the poem here.

i carry your heart with me

BY E. E. CUMMINGS

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
                                                      i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

Furthermore, I love E.E. Cummings. Out of all the poetry out there, there are key pieces that he has written that I will always always love.

I love this poem. Every time I time I have read it and both times that I have watched the movie (it was actually the movie Stephanie H. and I watched while making curtains the other night), the last several lines stay in my head for hours afterwards.
