there have been way too many engagements and weddings this year to be seen as normal. there must be something in the water. or a sense of urgency since the world is ending in october. or 2012. soon anyway.
being around many engaged people, i have noticed a trend among the engaged. most pull out from social activities and keep to themselves. i'm going to refrain from comment on how i feel about this.
also, people engaged become avid phone talkers. planning, gabbing, giggling, phone talkers. at home, at school, at events, everywhere. there couldn't be anything more important than one's cell phone at this time.
i have a friend who's kept track of the people who have gotten married from the church congregation in her years as a grad student. in two years, i think her number was approximately 50, which is a LOT of folks. i wonder how many more i'd have added to that considering i've been in the same congregation a few years prior to her being here.
i'm glad that i didn't keep track.
best of luck to all of them.
